10 Wedding Trends for 2018

A new year is upon us and that means new trends in the wedding industry! Are you planning a wedding in 2018? Then this blog is for you. Your favorite bridal salon in South Florida gather new trends in wedding attire, food, decor, venue, etc. and put them in one place to help with your wedding planning. Keep reading to learn about the new wedding trends for 2018.

Style: Bohemian Weddings

As far as themes or styles go, we'll be seeing a lot more bohemian weddings in 2018. From the dresses to the decor, this artsy style can be incorporated into all aspects of your wedding. Decor elements that we'll be seeing more of include dream catchers and crystals.

Decor: Dark, Moody & Purple

Say goodbye to the light pastels and/or bright colors and hello to a darker palette. The big trend in the 2018 floral scene will be darker, detailed and textured florals. The Pantone color of the year was released, Ultra Violet. The hue to watch will be purple, including wine, lilac, lavender and mauve. Everything from flowers to invites and table decor will feature purples. This year is going to be all about the drama.

Attire: Off-the-Shoulder Necklines

Designers took note of the fact that many brides like the off-the-shoulder neckline. From dramatic ballgowns to fit and fare silhouettes, we should expect to see plenty more off-the-shoulder styles in 2018.

Accessories: Extravagant Capes

Another trend coming back into style in 2018 is the wedding dress cover up. Inspired by the catwalk, flowing capes are a huge trend this year. Make a big entrance with a full length flowing cape or a heavily embellished style. A cover up can add so much personality to your wedding day look.

Food: Dessert Tables

Traditionally, brides had a big wedding cake that all the guests would enjoy at the reception. (Don't worry they'll still have a cake and cake cutting ceremony.) However, trends are moving more toward entire dessert tables. More brides are choosing to offer a variety of dessert options, and creative ones at that. This could be in the form of an ice cream bar, candy station or table featuring cookies, cheesecakes and more. This way, everyone gets more dessert and more choices!

Venue: Indoor Weddings

Recently we've seen a lot of outdoor weddings. In 2018 though, the trend will be to move those ceremonies back indoors. However, the church or banquet hall won't be the venue of choice. People are looking for something new in their venue; industrial, loft-style spaces and rooftops or museums will be the venue of choice. Having high ceilings and open space makes the environment just as airy as the outdoors.

Entertainment: Photo Booths

Couples are finding new ways to keep their guests entertained. One trend that will continue strong through this next wedding season is the photo booth. People are getting more and more creative with the props as well.

Food: Unique Menu Options

More and more couples are opting out of the traditional 3-course sit down dinner. They're choosing their favorite foods over fancy meals. From big sharing plates to food trucks, the 2018 wedding scene could see some interesting wedding reception food options. More alternative options, such as tacos and sushi, will infiltrate the wedding scene. Some wedding will even feature interactive food stations for the guests to enjoy.

Accessories: Pearls

The wedding accessory trend that's making a strong comeback is those lucky pearls. Everything from earrings and necklaces to headpieces and dress embellishments can feature pearls. If you're not a fan of sparkle, this is a classy way to incorporate embellishments.

Wedding: Less Bridesmaids

In previous years, we've seen some brides get a little carried away with their bridal party! Some wedding featured more than a dozen bridesmaids. However, that's expected to change in 2018. It's predicted that brides will choose smaller groups with just a maid of honor and maybe 1 or 2 bridesmaids.
