How to Find the Perfect Wedding Day Shoes

After you find your wedding dress at our Bridal Boutique in South Florida, next up is finding the perfect shoes to both complement your dress and make you feel fabulous on your big day! From walking down the aisle and seeing your soon to be husband's face, to dancing the night away, choosing the right footwear is important. Today, Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches has a few tips for you to consider to help you find the perfect wedding shoes!

Comfort is Key

The way your shoes look is important, but if you are miserable standing in them at the ceremony, it's going to be hard not to kick them off before the reception even begins. The shoes you end up with are a key part of your outfit, and you should keep them on as long as possible to complete your look.

Start by buying the correct size. If it doesn't fit like Cinderella's slipper, find another pair. As far as the heel goes, stick close to what you are used to wearing. If you live in sneakers, this is not the day to try stiletto heels. Don't pick anything with a heel higher than you are comfortable with.

Match them to the Dress

If you choose to wear shoes the exact same color as your bridal gown, make sure that they are the same shade. A color will look slightly different on different fabrics. If you decide to go with a colored shoe, consider the fabric, embellishments, and style of your wedding dress when choosing. You will want the two to compliment each other.

Consider the Venue

Make sure that you buy a shoe that makes sense on the flooring at your venue. Heels are horrible for a beach wedding on the sand, and casual sandals will probably look out of place in a ballroom.

Wear Them Around the House

Brand new shoes are never very kind to your feet. Wear your wedding shoes around the house before the big day to break them in a little bit. It's also a good idea to practice walking in them so that you handle them gracefully at the wedding.

Buy Shoes Before Dress Fittings Begin

It is very important to wear your wedding shoes for every bridal gown fitting. This is the best way to ensure that the seamstress gets the fit exactly right. If your shoes are still on order when you are being fitted, take a pair along with you that has the exact same size heel.

Have a Spare Pair

Actually, you may want to have a couple of extra pairs of shoes. First of all, you should have something extra-comfy to wear while you are getting ready, and maybe even for in-between events when your toes need a quick break.

Second, have a spare pair on hand to wear with your dress. You shouldn't spend a lot on these, because hopefully, you will not be wearing them. Still, it's much better to be safe than sorry. If a heel breaks on your original shoes or they somehow get left in the wrong car, the wedding won't have to wait. As long as they work with the dress and they are something you plan to wear at a later date, all your bases are covered and you get a bonus pair of shoes.
