Who to Include in Your Wedding Dress Shopping Entourage

The group of people that you bring along with you when you shop at our South Florida wedding dress store is an important decision. They will greatly affect whether you have a wonderful, positive experience, or a horrible one with lots of doubts and uncertainty.

Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches always makes sure that a bride has a pleasant experience with our undivided attention during an appointment. A giant entourage of people at that appointment can make the whole day a lot more difficult.

Everyone's likes and dislikes are different, and with too many people it can turn into a competition. Don't try to make your experience into what you have seen on television. That is often enhanced for entertainment purposes. Life is simple, and this really can be too.

When you are ready to narrow down the list of potential shopping partners, here are a few people that may be contenders.

The Maid/Matron of Honor

This is your right-hand-woman for wedding planning. If she is special enough for this title, then you most likely trust her opinion. She will have your best interests at heart, and should know your style.

Bridesmaids or Close Friends

Your very closest friends are the people that usually know you better than most, and true friends will never steer you wrong. Keep it limited though, because too many opinions will make the decision a lot more difficult. 1-3 people in your shopping group is plenty.

Your Parents

Many mothers dream of the day when they can wedding dress shop with their daughter. If you and your mom are close, then she is most definitely a good choice for a shopping partner. If the two of you have very different opinions when it comes to fashion, you might want to wait and bring her to a fitting after you have made your decision. Sometimes fathers come along too, especially if they are buying the dress. Dads that don't enjoy clothes shopping may prefer to stay home.

Your Future In-Laws

Your groom's mother and sisters may want to join you. This being a good idea all depends on how close you already are to them. If you know each other well and already feel like family, then they may be good choices. If not, then you can find anther way to include them in the wedding planning.

Siblings

Sisters, and sometimes even brothers, that are extremely close may want to share in this special moment with you. As long as they are there to be cheerleaders, they can be helpful. Just as with close friends, limit the group to 1-3 of them.

The Groom

He will probably prefer to sit this one out and wait to see you all dressed up on the wedding day. It's not out of the question for him to tag along if the two of you are not sentimental about the surprise element of the first look. Some couples do enjoy making this decision together.

DO NOT BRING:

Children

Even the most well-behaved child can be a distraction in this situation. Your appointment will last a while, and kids tend to get bored after a couple of dresses. You may not have enough time to try on all of the dresses that you want before your appointment is over if you have to cater to a restless child. If you have no other choice than to bring them along with you, discuss it with the salon in advance. Some may have policies about this, and you will need to respect those.

Drama Queens

This is the "friend" that can't stand having anyone else as the center of attention for very long. You don't need a jealous person at your appointment that will keep inserting their comments simply to make drama or take the focus away from you. This is your special time, and it should be fun and enjoyable.

Know-It-Alls

These are the people that have an opinion about every tiny detail, and it's usually negative rather than positive. They assume that they are the only ones that know what is best and will try to force their opinions on you. This is your decision, no one else's.

The wedding day is all about you and your groom, but your dress shopping appointment at our South Florida bridal salon is all about you. You will want to share it with the people that will be as happy as you are when you find "THE dress." Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches wants to make sure that your wedding dress shopping experience is one that you can look back on and remember fondly.
