There is no wrong way to shop for your wedding dress in South Florida but there are things that you can do to help you through the experience. Today, our bridal boutique in Royal Palm Beaches would like to help you simplify your gown shopping by sharing with you some of the mistakes we have identified over the years. Knowing these common mistakes in advance can help you find your wedding gown that much easier.
1. Shopping Too Soon
Of course you're excited to start shopping for your perfect dress, but beginning the process too early may pose challenges. We recommend scheduling your first appointment no earlier than twelve months in advance. It is wise to wait to try on dresses until you are ready to make a purchase, in case you find your dream dress on your first day. It is also smart to shop for wedding gowns after you have chosen your venue, so that you can choose a dress that will accommodate your venue's style. That being said, you also don't want to wait too long before beginning shopping, since you'll need to allow time for your gown to come in and for alterations to be made. Shopping 12-6 months before your wedding date should be a safe compromise.2. Ordering The Wrong Size
Practically every bride plans to lose weight before her big day, and many wish to order their wedding gowns one or two sizes smaller to show off their new bodies. However, we recommend ordering the size that fits you currently. Wedding dresses can often be taken in up to four sizes without affecting the look of the gowns, but they may only be able to let out one size. This means that it should be easy to take a gown in to fit if you do lose weight, but it will also still fit even if you don't meet your weight loss goal. Also, be aware that wedding dresses tend to run one or two sizes smaller than ordinary street clothes - don't get hung up on the number!3. Trying On Too Many Dresses
At a certain point, trying on dress after dress won't be as much fun anymore. If you try on too many dresses, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the decision that lies in front of you. If you find a dress you love, stop. You don't need to complicate matters by trying on additional dresses and then forcing yourself to make a tough decision.4. Bringing Too Many People With You
It's usually a good idea (and fun!) to bring a couple people with you to your bridal appointment. It's great to be able to share the excitement with your mom, sister, or best friend, and having other people their to share their opinions can be helpful. However, bringing too many people with you often makes things unnecessarily complicated, as juggling multiple opinions can be overwhelming and stressful. We recommend bringing a maximum of 2-3 people with you.5. Getting Hung Up On A Specific Style
Time and time again, we have seen brides eagerly pull out their smartphones to show us pictures of their favorite gown styles, anxious to try items from our selection that match those styles. Unfortunately, many styles may not look the same on your body that they do in pictures. If the reality of your chosen style doesn't match your fantasy, don't get discouraged. The perfect dress for you is still out there, and it's our mission to help you find it!Make Your Appointment at Bridal Couture!
