Five Fabulous Tips to Accessorize Your Wedding Dress

You've found your dream dress, and now it's time to accessorize. You can find lots of gorgeous pieces to accentuate the beauty of your wedding gown in our West Palm Beach bridal boutique. Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches has come up with a few tips for you to keep in mind when you begin your wedding dress accessory shopping.

Accessorize wearing the dress

The only time that you should attempt to pick out accessories to wear with your wedding dress is when you are actually wearing the wedding dress. Trying to pick out what looks the best without your dress actually there is a big mistake. You cannot know how the accessories will truly work together to complete your look unless everything is tried on at the same time. If you find at piece that you absolutely have to have, don't make a final decision until you can bring it to the dress, or vice versa.

Add color

Accessories are a great way to add a pop of color to your wedding day look. If your personality calls for more than the regular whites of bridal attire, use a brightly colored gem in a fabulous pair of earrings, or a large, stunning pendant to add some extra pizazz. Shoes are another wonderful way to sneak in a bit of color.

Match your metals

If you choose to stick with golds and silvers for your jewelry, it's best to keep them all the same. The color of your bridal gown can help make this decision. In general, an all white gown looks best with platinum and silver jewelry. Ivory material on your wedding dress works best with gold, and off-white gowns can actually work well with all of them.

Sometimes less is more

An extremely elaborate dress will not need a lot of accessorizing. You don't want everything you are wearing to be fighting for attention, it should work together, like a team. If there is a lot going on with your gown, then hold back on the accessories. On the other hand, if your dress is a simple design, then you might want to find one bold accessory that will stand out.

Choose belts/sashes wisely

Adding a beautiful belt or sash can completely take your dress up another level of gorgeous. Make sure that it not only looks good with the gown, but it's also the right one for your particular body type. Long torsos look best with wide belts, and shorter torsos lean toward thinner ones. In most cases, a belt should not be more than three inches wide.

The gorgeous jewelry, elegant waist sashes, and every accessory that we carry in our South Florida bridal boutique is hand-picked. We only offer the very best to our brides. You will find many exquisite pieces right here at Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches, allowing you to find the perfect accessories at the same place that you found your dream wedding dress. Having everything in one spot makes it all easier for you.

The Risks Involved with Buying a Wedding Dress Online

It may seem easier and more convenient to shop for a wedding dress online, but there are risks involved that you should be aware of. You will have a better chance of getting exactly what you are looking for when you visit our South Florida Bridal Boutique in person rather than taking a huge chance by ordering your dress online.

Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches knows that excellent customer service is extremely important in this industry, and it's difficult to get that if you don't deal directly with real, live people. Below you will find a few reasons that shopping online for something as personal and important as your wedding dress may not be the best idea.

Bad Fit

A photo of a gorgeous bridal gown on a model may look perfect to you, but there is no promise that it will look like than on your own body. Every woman's body is different, and without physically trying on the wedding dress, there is no way to know which style looks the best on your particular body type. Also, there are many shades of "white" when it comes to fashion, and trying the dress on is the best way to know which one highlights your skin tone.

Taking your own measurements for ordering can be a big mistake. Only a skilled seamstress knows exactly how to take them correctly, and letting anyone else do it can be a gamble. A dress that is very far off from the correct size when it arrives can cause you to spend a lot of money on alterations.

Low Quality

A huge problem in the fashion industry is the sale of counterfeit dresses. It is easy for a shady store to sell a knock-off dress online. Your first clue is a price that is too good to be true. If the gown is discounted more than 50%, it is probably a fake.

Counterfeit dresses will claim to be the real thing, even using photos from the designers that they are copying. Brides that have had this happen to them were devastated when they received it in the mail. These gowns can be made of inferior fabrics, and while the may resemble the dress that was ordered, will be sewn in a much different way. Sometimes the color won't even be what you ordered. Only stores that are listed on the designer's website as authorized retailers are allowed to sell the real gowns.

The (lack of) Customer Service

When you come to your wedding dress shopping appointment at Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches, you will be the center of attention. We will listen to your likes, dislikes, needs, and desires for your dream bridal gown. After that, we will assist you in trying on different styles until you find exactly what you love, and we are always here to answer any questions or concerns that you may have after you purchase your wedding dress.

Ordering your gown online is done only between you and the computer, usually with no assistance offered. Many online wedding dress stores also have an "All Sales Are Final" rule, meaning once it arrives on your doorstep, you are stuck with it. The companies that are not trustworthy are also very hard to get in touch with by phone or email, if you can get them to answer you at all.

You Miss the Amazing Experience

The most important reason to shop at our South Florida wedding dress store is that shopping online robs you of the amazing experience you get in store. This is a once in a lifetime event, and you should savor every moment of it, making lots of wonderful memories in the process. You and the people that are closest to you should spend this time shopping, laughing, and enjoying it all.

Buying a bridal gown is a special moment in a woman's life, and you should make sure that it is a pleasant experience. Shopping in our West Palm Beach bridal boutique will give you exactly that. You will have a large selection of exquisite, quality wedding dresses to try on, and knowledgeable, helpful consultants to assist you during the entire process. Let Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches make this a moment in time that you will look back on fondly and never forget.

Who to Include in Your Wedding Dress Shopping Entourage

The group of people that you bring along with you when you shop at our South Florida wedding dress store is an important decision. They will greatly affect whether you have a wonderful, positive experience, or a horrible one with lots of doubts and uncertainty.

Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches always makes sure that a bride has a pleasant experience with our undivided attention during an appointment. A giant entourage of people at that appointment can make the whole day a lot more difficult.

Everyone's likes and dislikes are different, and with too many people it can turn into a competition. Don't try to make your experience into what you have seen on television. That is often enhanced for entertainment purposes. Life is simple, and this really can be too.

When you are ready to narrow down the list of potential shopping partners, here are a few people that may be contenders.

The Maid/Matron of Honor

This is your right-hand-woman for wedding planning. If she is special enough for this title, then you most likely trust her opinion. She will have your best interests at heart, and should know your style.

Bridesmaids or Close Friends

Your very closest friends are the people that usually know you better than most, and true friends will never steer you wrong. Keep it limited though, because too many opinions will make the decision a lot more difficult. 1-3 people in your shopping group is plenty.

Your Parents

Many mothers dream of the day when they can wedding dress shop with their daughter. If you and your mom are close, then she is most definitely a good choice for a shopping partner. If the two of you have very different opinions when it comes to fashion, you might want to wait and bring her to a fitting after you have made your decision. Sometimes fathers come along too, especially if they are buying the dress. Dads that don't enjoy clothes shopping may prefer to stay home.

Your Future In-Laws

Your groom's mother and sisters may want to join you. This being a good idea all depends on how close you already are to them. If you know each other well and already feel like family, then they may be good choices. If not, then you can find anther way to include them in the wedding planning.

Siblings

Sisters, and sometimes even brothers, that are extremely close may want to share in this special moment with you. As long as they are there to be cheerleaders, they can be helpful. Just as with close friends, limit the group to 1-3 of them.

The Groom

He will probably prefer to sit this one out and wait to see you all dressed up on the wedding day. It's not out of the question for him to tag along if the two of you are not sentimental about the surprise element of the first look. Some couples do enjoy making this decision together.

DO NOT BRING:

Children

Even the most well-behaved child can be a distraction in this situation. Your appointment will last a while, and kids tend to get bored after a couple of dresses. You may not have enough time to try on all of the dresses that you want before your appointment is over if you have to cater to a restless child. If you have no other choice than to bring them along with you, discuss it with the salon in advance. Some may have policies about this, and you will need to respect those.

Drama Queens

This is the "friend" that can't stand having anyone else as the center of attention for very long. You don't need a jealous person at your appointment that will keep inserting their comments simply to make drama or take the focus away from you. This is your special time, and it should be fun and enjoyable.

Know-It-Alls

These are the people that have an opinion about every tiny detail, and it's usually negative rather than positive. They assume that they are the only ones that know what is best and will try to force their opinions on you. This is your decision, no one else's.

The wedding day is all about you and your groom, but your dress shopping appointment at our South Florida bridal salon is all about you. You will want to share it with the people that will be as happy as you are when you find "THE dress." Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches wants to make sure that your wedding dress shopping experience is one that you can look back on and remember fondly.

Which Wedding Dress Silhouette Is Your Style?

It's easy to figure out which bridal fashions you like when you see photos of them, but if you are trying to describe a dress, it can be difficult to convey exactly what you you have in mind. Knowing some terms used to describe them can be extremely helpful. Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches has listed the more popular bridal gown shapes below. You can find all of these at our South Florida wedding dress store

Ball Gown

Straight out of a classic fairy tale, the ball gown is generally thought of as what a princess would wear. It is a timeless look that will always be in style. Ball gowns have a fitted bodice with a full skirt that flares out at the waist. These dresses seem to float ethereally down the aisle.

A-line

For a little less bounce, but still a full, beautiful skirt, there is the A-line silhouette. You get the fitted bodice, and the skirt gradually flows out from the waist, resembling the shape of an upper case letter "A." This shape can be a little easier to move around in than the ball gown.

Tea Length

If you prefer a shorter wedding dress, a tea length gown is a lovely solution. It will fall between your ankle and knee, perfect for showing off a pair of fabulous shoes.

Trumpet

Trumpet silhouettes allow you to show off your curves while still giving you a flowy skirt at the bottom. It is fitted down through the body, but flares out around mid-thigh.

Mermaid

This is very similar to the trumpet style, but the skirt flare happens a bit lower, at the knee. It is sometimes also referred to as a fit-and-flare. It will enhance an hourglass shape.

Sheath

Flowing straight from the neckline to the hem, a sheath wedding dress can look both casual and sultry. The fabric used will make a big difference in the feel of the gown. It tends to follow your natural shape and can have a lengthening effect on the body.

You will probably have a favorite dress silhouette picked out before you come in to our West Palm Beach bridal boutique, but keep an open mind when you begin trying the dresses on. The same dress can look completely different on different body types. What looks amazing on one woman may not work on another. The helpful consultants at Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches are happy to work with you to find the perfect wedding dress that will seem like it was made just for you.
