5 Ideas for Your Patriotic Wedding

Whether you're getting married on a patriotic holiday, like the 4h of July, Memorial Day or Labor Day, or not, red, white and blue make great wedding colors! From the attire to the decor and everything in between, there are so many cute and fun ways to incorporate flags and the colors red, white and blue into your wedding.

Today's blog from South Florida's best bridal salon features some great ideas for a patriotic themed wedding:

1. Dress the Bridal Party in Red, White and Blue.

While the white should be reserved for the bride, dress the bridesmaids in cute blue or red dresses. We offer a variety of red and blue dresses at our bridal store in Royal Palm Beach. You could also add a pop of color with red or blue shoes, opposite the color of the dresses. You could dress the men in flag patterned ties and consider flag ribbon for the ladies' hair. Make the bouquets with red, white and blue flowers and ribbon to match as well.

2. Stock the Bar with Red, White and Blue Cocktail Creations.

Simplify your drink selections by offering a signature drink for your special night. Consider a twist on red wine sangria, and add blueberries to the drink. Another option is a rum punch which could be red or blue depending on what mixers you choose to add. You could still offer a beer option for those who would prefer something a little less sweet.

3. Create a Festive Dessert Table with Red, White and Blue Treats.

Find a baker that can make you a beautiful red, white and blue cake. There are so many amazing cake options out there, like a naked red velvet cake with white icing and blue icing flowers for example. Consider some flag cookies and red, white and blue M&M's for the kids. Chocolate covered strawberries are delicious desert option that can easily be created to look like little flags; just use white chocolate to dip the ends in and then cover in blue sprinkles!

4. Kiss Under a Grand Firework Display.

There's nothing more patriotic or romantic than ending your special night with a grand firework display. Who doesn't love fireworks? Not only will they make an awesome backdrop for your wedding pictures, but if you have children at the wedding, they will love them. Make your wedding go out with a bang, literally!

5. Make Your Grand Exit as Newlyweds with Sparklers Instead of Rice.

Who actually throws rice anymore? There are so many other great options to use to send off the newlyweds. To tie in the patriotic theme to this tradition where everyone lines up to lead the bride and groom out to their vehicle, consider sparklers. This will add a little sparkle the exit and will be something extra fun for the children and adults alike.

Whether you're considering a patriotic wedding or some other theme, Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches is the place to get all your wedding attire! We have gorgeous bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses in just about any color you could wish for and something special for the mother of the bride as well. 7 Ways To Stay Cool At Your Summer Wedding

Summer is a very popular time of year to get married, for obvious reasons. The endless sunshine, bright blue skies, sparkling oceans, and brilliantly green leafy foliage make it an exciting time of year for weddings. There's really only one downside to summer weddings - if you're not careful, you and your guests may find yourselves sweltering in the summer heat.

If you're getting married in South Florida, temperatures are likely to be especially toasty for your summertime wedding... but don't let the heat scare you away from all the great things about getting married in the summer! Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches has a few helpful ways you can keep yourself, your bridal party, and guests cool on the big day.

1. Keep Plenty Of Refreshing Drinks On Hand.
Champagne, wine, beer, and cocktails are often staples at wedding festivities, but alcohol can be very dehydrating. It's okay to serve adult beverages at your summer wedding, but it would be wise to offer hydrating drinks as well. Fruit-infused water and lemonade are great options. You may also want to consider placing a few iced buckets of water bottles throughout your venue.

2. Plan On An Updo.
If you have long hair, you know first-hand how warm having hair on your neck can be. Do yourself and your bridesmaids a favor - if anyone has long hair, plan on a stylish updo for the special day.

3. Consider Cushions For The Chairs.
If you're planning an outdoor wedding where guests may be sitting in the sun, you may want to consider renting cushions to place on the folding chairs so that guests don't burn their legs on the hot metal or plastic chairs.

4. Provide Summer-Friendly Favors.
Guests love wedding favors anyway, but if you make your favors something they can use to keep themselves cool during the festivities, they'll appreciate them even more. Programs that double as handheld fans, small misting fans, and customized sunglasses are just a few summer-friendly examples.

5. Incorporate Fans Into Your Decor.
The airflow fans create will likely be invaluable during your summer wedding. Place several fans throughout your venue to create a cooling breeze. If you're worried about the fans creating an eyesore, you can always spray paint the base to match your wedding colors.

6. Give Your Bridesmaids Parasols.
There's something timelessly romantic and whimsical about parasols. If you're planning a summer wedding, you may want to skip the traditional bouquets for yourself and your bridesmaids, and instead select parasols for your girls to carry with them. They'll add a sense of fun to your event - and they'll provide much-needed shade while you stand at the altar.

7. Pack Sunscreen.
Don't let your special day lead to painful sunburns! Pack small bottles of sunscreen in the wedding day survival kits you put together for yourself and your bridesmaids. You may also want to consider setting out a few bottles of community sunscreen for your guests to use (by the buckets of bottled water, for example).

Glowing Testimonials From Happy Brides

A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event. You will never get to live your special day again, so it's important that your big day is everything you dream it will be. Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches takes great pride in helping brides find the perfect dresses to say "I do" in. We love what we do - we consider ourselves truly blessed to be one of the top bridal boutiques in South Florida!

One of the best parts about our job is hearing from happy brides. We work very hard to ensure that each bride has the best possible experience with us, so it's great to hear when our efforts pay off. This week, we are excited to share some of the great testimonials we have received from happy brides.

Testimonials For Bridal Couture Of The Palm Beaches

"An Absolute Gem."

Davita, the owner, is an absolute gem and pleasure to work with. I was so surprised at the pricing of some of the STUNNING gowns she has in her store -- which is beautiful in itself. You will not be disappointed working with her.
~ Bride

"A True 'Bridal Experience.'"

Our experience at this shop was very positive. The owner was very attentive and patient as my daughter and her bridesmaids chose their gowns. If she did not know the answer to our unusual requests, she researched and contacted us with the answer in a timely fashion. You will feel the owner truly cares about your happiness with your gown choice. The shop is well-lit and the gowns, both bridal and bridesmaids, are beautifully presented. If you are not just "looking for a gown" but want a "bridal experience" my daughter and I highly suggest you visit Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches.
~ Mother of the Bride

"Love The Quality & Style."

I felt so happy and comfortable with Davita's customer service! She was very flexible in accommodating my busy schedule. Her enthusiasm made choosing my dress a wonderful experience. I love the quality and style of my dress. I highly recommend her store. I believe in good energies and Davita is full of that.
~ Bride

"Real & Personal."

I had a wonderful experience at Bridal Couture. This was my second time shopping for a dress, and I wish it would have been my first. Davita at Bridal Couture knew so much about the bridal industry. She made the appointment feel like the store closed down especially for you. She hand selects all of her gowns and takes pride in her work. Her store feels very chic and elegant. What I love most about the appointment is that she made it feel real and personal. She tried on different veils along with jewelry that would complement the dresses. She allowed me to try on dresses that I didn't even think about wearing (big over the top ones), just to have fun with it. When I finally put THE dress on, I knew it was the one and it was all due to her help. I am so happy that I went to this store and thank you SO MUCH, Davita, for making the dress shopping experience amazing!
~ Bride

"EVERYTHING Was Fabulous!"

The store, the owner, the dresses, EVERYTHING was fabulous! I have done my fair share of shopping for wedding gowns and I am so glad that I went to see Davita at Bridal Couture. Her dress selection was amazing and the prices were even better. She also has bridesmaid gowns that are beautiful and I cannot wait to bring my bridal party there. Thank you again for everything and I am so glad I said YES at Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches!
~ Bride

"Every Bride's First & Last Stop."

Brides, please do yourself a favor and go to Bridal Couture! This is how dress shopping is supposed to be! Davita was very professional and gave us such an amazing experience that we didn't want to leave. The dresses are all handpicked by Davita and the prices... INCREDIBLE!!! Bridal Couture needs to be every Bride’s first and last stop. I can't wait to come back with the rest of our bridal party to shop for our bridesmaids dresses! Thanks for making my bestie feel like the most gorgeous and glamorous Bride - it was no wonder she said YES to the dress!
~ Maid of Honor

"From One Bride To Another, Go To This Boutique!"

Davita and her husband were so giving of their time, and Davita provided the most personal assistance that I have received from any bridal store or boutique. My family was comfortable waiting for me on the couch and chairs in the bridal room, and her salon made me feel so special. The decor is perfect, there are no other brides to compete with during your appointment, and the owner's taste level in her selection of gowns is impeccable. I can't believe it was in my price range! From one bride to another, go to this boutique!
~ Bride

Choosing The Perfect Dress For Your Beach Wedding: 5 Tips

While there are plenty of places to get married in Florida, the beach is without a doubt one of the most popular venue options. In fact, Floridian beaches don't only attract couples native to the state - people from all over the country plan destination weddings on our beautiful beaches.

As one of the best bridal salons in West Palm Beach, we are no stranger to beach weddings. This week, we are going to look specifically at how you can find the perfect gown for your wedding on the beach.

1. Plan To Be Barefoot.
High heels (and sometimes even wedges or flats) don't mix well with sand. Since going barefoot is a popular option at beach weddings, you'll find to find a dress whose formality level will blend well with a barefoot affair. Foot jewelry is a fun way to dress up bare feet for beach weddings, but it's not certainly not mandatory. (Quick tip - if you plan to put shoes on for the reception, go with flats. That way, the length of your dress will work with both bare feet and shoes.)

2. Decide On The Length.
As the bride, it is completely up to you to decide what length you would like your wedding dress to be. Some brides planning to get married on a beach choose shorter wedding dresses that won't have to touch the sand (or a runaway wave), whereas others opt for floor-length gowns in spite of the beach location. There is no right answer - it's up to you to decide what fits best with your vision.

3. Consider The Heat.
As you are probably well aware, beach weddings (especially those in Florida) can get quite hot. If you are planning a wedding on the beach, you'll want to find a dress that won't make you melt while you are saying "I do." Avoid heavy fabrics, sleeves, and long chapel trains. Those types of formal wedding gowns are more appropriate for weddings taking place at elegant indoor venues.

4. Think "Light" And "Airy."
Since you'll want to avoid heavy dresses that may make you swelter, the natural solution is to find a dress that is light, airy, and flowing. In case you are blessed with a gentle breeze on your wedding day, you'll want to find a dress that will flatter you as it blows in the wind. Strapless or spaghetti straps and lightweight fabrics (like chiffon or silk) are a beachy bride's best friends.

5. Don't Forget A Shawl.
We just talked about ways to plan for the intense heat that may play a part in your wedding day, but it's impossible to predict temperatures on the beach. Though you'll want your gown to be light and breathable, it's smart to have a lightweight shawl or other type of warmth on hand in case the wind picks up and it becomes chilly outside. (This is especially important if you are planning to get married in the evening.)

Find Your Beach Wedding Dress At Bridal Couture Of The Palm Beaches!

Beach weddings are some of the most romantic weddings around. The uniqueness of the location, the softness of the sand, and the majesty of the ocean lend themselves to a wedding that will never be forgotten.

If you are planning a beach wedding in Florida, we would be honored if you would find your beach wedding dress at Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches. As a small and intimate boutique, we ensure one-on-one attention for our brides. Call us at (561) 793-4633 to schedule your private appointment at our bridal salon in Palm Beach, Florida.

Wedding Dress Shopping - What NOT To Do

Maybe we're a little biased, but in our opinion, shopping for your dream wedding dress is the most important part of the wedding planning process. Your dress will be one of the primary focal points both on your wedding day itself and in all the photos that will last forever. This means that you'll not only need to find a dress that makes you feel beautiful on your special day - you'll want a dress that you'll love looking at for years to come.

Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches is here to help you find your dream wedding dress. In one of our earlier blog posts, we discussed some different tips for finding your perfect wedding dress. Today, we are here to examine the other side of the coin. Keep reading to learn about some things you should not do during the dress shopping process.

(Don't) Be Pressured Into Having An Audience.
Wedding dress shopping is typically a grand event. Brides are often accompanied by several other women, such as their bridesmaids, sister(s), maid of honor, mother, and sometimes their future mother-in-law. While you are certainly welcome to invite these women to join you, don't feel pressured into having them there with you. Having too many people watching you (and offering their opinions) can be overwhelming. Your best bet may be to limit your entourage to 2-3 people.

(Don't) Focus On The Little Details First.
The delicate details are often what make the difference between good wedding gowns and great ones. However, they aren't what you should devote your attention to first. Choosing your silhouette should be your first step. Once you pick your general style, you can begin to focus on the little details. (For more information on this topic, see our earlier blog post on 4 Steps For Choosing The Perfect Gown Style.)

(Don't) Focus Too Much On Trends.
If you're a fashion-conscious bride, following current trends may be one of your top priorities. The latest bridal fashion trends can be an excellent source of inspiration and a great place to start, but ultimately, the current trend should not be your deciding factor. Whereas trends come and go, you'll want to love looking at your dress for years. The dresses currently in your closet may give you a better idea of where to start.

(Don't) Try On Dresses Without Looking At Pictures First.
Trying on wedding dresses is a one-of-a-kind experience. It's easy to understand why many brides are anxious to begin this exciting process. However, it's best to peruse pictures of wedding gowns first so that you can get a solid understanding of what styles you like before scheduling your appointment at a bridal salon in South Florida. This will help you avoid having to try on too many dresses (and thus becoming overwhelmed by too many options) at your fitting.

(Don't) Get Hung Up On Sizing.
Many brides don't realize this prior to trying on dresses for the first time, but wedding dresses often run 2-3 sizes larger than normal dresses. Focus on getting the size that will fit you and flatter your shape - try not to get hung up on the number.

(Don't) Forget About Your Appearance
Doing your hair and makeup for your dress shopping appointment isn't critical, but it can be extremely helpful. If you show up to your fitting with a messy ponytail and no makeup, it can be hard to envision how you'll look on your actual wedding day. By taking the time to fix your hair and makeup prior to arriving at your fitting, you'll be better able to picture yourself on your special day.
