Prioritizing Your Wedding Planning Tasks

You're newly engaged, let the wedding planning begin! This is a very exciting time for any bride-to-be. Often times brides get caught up with doing the things they like the most first instead of what makes the most sense. To get you started, Bridal Couture of the Palm Beaches put together a list of tips to help you prioritize your wedding planning tasks.

1. Start with a Budget.

While the venue, food and photography might be the top things on your mind after your engagement, it's important to start with a budget. Sit down with your fiance and determine how much you are willing and able to spend on this event. Knowing what you have to work with will make the rest of the planning happen a lot more smoothly. You will also want to make a list of the top three aspects of your wedding that are the most important, that you might splurge a little on. At this point, you might consider hiring a wedding planning to help with the rest of the process.

2. Move on to the Venue and Guest List.

The size of your party will be a determining factor for the rest of your planning, so it's important to determine how many people you are going to invite. Once you have a rough estimate of how many people you think will attend your special day, you'll need to find a venue that will accommodate that number. Keep in mind that the larger your wedding is, the larger the space you will need and the larger the budget.

3. Choosing the Perfect Date.

While setting a date may seem like one of the first steps to take, you'll have to find a venue that's available. Therefore, it might make more sense to wait to choose the date after you find a venue that you like and that will accommodate the number of guests you would like to have in attendance. Try not to get your heart set on a date from the beginning, otherwise you may be adding to the wedding planning stress by trying to find something available for your date.

4. Start Interviewing Vendors.

Once you have the budget, venue, guest list and date determined, you can start interviewing vendors. The vendor will definitely need to know the date, as they have to check their schedule availability. In addition, depending on the type of vendor, the number of people will also be important. The caterer and wedding cake baker will need an estimate on the number of people in order to get you an accurate quote. You'll also want to find a photographer, florist, DJ, bartender, etc.

5. Focus on the Attire Last.

While finding the perfect wedding dress may be the biggest focus after that ring is on your finger, it's one of the wedding planning items that can wait until later. Depending on your wedding date and the venue, a certain dress style might be better than another. If you're considering a beach wedding, you may want a short, light-weight wedding dress from our South Florida bridal salon. If you're getting married inside, in the winter months, you might be able to go with a more full ballgown style dress.
