Keep guests cool.

Spring weddings may not get too terribly hot, but summer ones can. Make sure there is a shady spot nearby so that everyone can get out of the sun if necessary. Renting a few high-powered outdoor fans can be a great comfort, but make sure you get the quiet ones. Keep lots of water close for everyone to refresh with. You can provide big iced tubs of personalized water bottles or a few water containers filled with fruit-infused waters.


Provide outdoor comforts.

Little gestures will make a big impact. Having sunscreen and even bug spray handy for guests to use will be greatly appreciated. Shady spots are best, and surrounding the cake with pretty netting hung from the ceiling can look beautiful. 

Dress for the occasion. 

When you shop for your wedding dress, keep the time of year and season in mind. You will want to go for lighter fabrics that breath well. Choose shoes that will not get stuck in the ground. There are pieces that you can add to heels so that they do not sink into dirt. If you will be walking on sand, sandals may be your best option. Carry blotting papers and powder in your wedding day emergency kit to get rid of any shine the heat gives your skin. 



Use nature for your decor. 

The best part about an outdoor wedding is that you are surrounded by the beauty of nature. Choose a venue that is filled with gorgeous natural features and very little, if any, decorations will need to be added. 

Have a backup plan.

You can avoid a lot of worry about the weather taking a bad turn on your wedding day by making sure you plan for the worst. The piece of mind that comes from knowing you won't have to cancel everything because of a sudden downpour is well worth the extra planning time. Make arrangements with your venue to either reserve some space indoors or reserve a weather-resistant tent for the day. You probably won't need it, but if you do, you'll be glad it is there.
