8 Easy DIY Decoration Ideas for Your Wedding

Your wedding is quickly approaching. You have the date set and the venue selected, now it's time to start thinking about the decorations. Whether you're trying to save money on your wedding decorations or you just love crafting, we've got some easy DIY decoration ideas for you!

1. Ribbon Tied Photo Backdrop.

Create a photo backdrop by tying colorful ribbon to a dowel rod. Use wrapped wire ties, as it's faster than knotting the ribbon and it allows the ribbon to drape more neatly. Then hang up the rod and voila, you have an easy DIY photo backdrop. Ribbon can also be used for other decorations, such as tying it to the back of boring chairs to dress them up!

2. Custom Chalkboard Signs.

Grab a giant chalkboard, some colorful chalk and scribble away! You can use a chalkboard sign for just about anything you want to share with your guests. Get your guests excited for what's on the menu by writing it on the board. Tell them where to sit by writing it on the board. The possibilities are endless.

3. Stylish Marble Votives.

Add both color and light to your reception tables with cute marbled votive holders. Using nail polish for the color, this easy marbling technique from HGTV is quite unique. 4. Wire-Wrapped Signs.

For a quick, easy and inexpensive decor idea, grab some thick craft wire and start bending! You can create signs that say anything from Bride & Groom to Just Married to Mr. & Mrs. The possibilities are endless.

5. Wooden Wedding Arch.

Head over to your favorite hardware store, grab some wooden beams and talk someone who's good with power tools into helping you. Once you've turned the wooden beams into an arch, decorate it with some draped tulle and flowers.

6. Wine Cork Bar Sign.

Like you need another excuse to drink wine, but there's nothing more adorable than a wine cork bar sign. Save your wine corks and hot glue them together to form the word "BAR." Use a paper with the word spelled on it to help you line it up properly. You can make more signs than just bar though; try your last name or something else that goes along well with your special day.

7. Pinwheel Table Decorations.

Pinwheels are easy to create and you can make them in just about any color you want! Not only will pinwheels keep the children entertained, but they'll look great as table decorations. Stick them in mason jars and spread them around the room. This can be in place of flowers, which can easily get expensive.

8. Paper Cone Rice Tossers.

All you need to create your own packaging for the rice that guests will toss at you as you leave the wedding venue is some paper and a hole punch! Simply roll a piece of paper into a cone, gluing the edge down. Fold the top flap of the cone down to create a sort of lid, and use the hole punch to create a way to secure the "lid" to the cone with some ribbon. Fill with rice and tie it off until it's ready to be used.
